Hi, I’m Laura

I help patients develop the emotional tools they need to build emotional resilience, improve their relationships, and feel better.



 


 

From a young age, I developed an interest in understanding emotional suffering: why do we suffer? What are the consequences of our suffering for us and those around us? But most importantly, how can we overcome this suffering?

Certain that if we can climb to the top of the food chain and develop the tools to satisfy our basic needs, we can evolve to replace our suffering with a feeling of harmony, I set out to find answers to my questions by studying psychology.

After completing my undergraduate degree and several postgraduate studies, I became a psychologist in the prison system in Spain. Working with patients in prison, I faced human suffering daily. Though the cases I worked on were often complicated, I found it rewarding to help my patients get relief from their emotional suffering.

After working in prisons for nine years, I decided to take a break from public service and moved to Roatan, where I established a private psychology practice in 2020. Today, I split my time between my private practice and the SOL International Foundation, where I provide psychotherapy to at-risk teens.

Therapeutic Approach

My years of study and experience working with clients led me to understand that to overcome emotional suffering, we must dig deep to get to know and accept ourselves so we can respond to life’s challenges with insight.
Using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) combined with relaxation techniques,

such as mindful meditation, breathwork, and Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR), I help clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves and learn new ways to respond to obstacles in their lives. My goal is to help each client develop the resilience to direct their energy toward emotional wellbeing.
